From Mike Conley's Tales of the Weird: A lesson in why you should defile cemeteries. I quite like this story :)

More than 30 years ago, a 17-year-old British girl and some of her teenage friends decided to have some fun in an old cemetery. It wouldn't be long before the girl regretted what she and her pals had done there.
In the spring of 1978, several teen-age friends made their way through a cemetery in the British countryside. They laughed and joked about the dead people buried there and trampled on the old graves, thinking they were having some harmless fun, according to a Web site.

But several nights later, the teen-age girl woke up in her bed and saw the ghost of an old woman sitting in a nearby chair. The apparition did not frighten her and she soon drifted back to sleep. The next morning, she assumed that she had just had a strange dream.

It wouldn't be long before she realized that what she saw wasn't a dream. For several weeks later, the teen kept seeing the ghost of the old woman, sometimes in broad daylight. The ghost followed her from room to room, sometimes hovering about a foot above the floor. Sometimes, the spirit would watch the girl's every move. It would follow her and would come to a freeze whenever the girl tried to confront it.

She came to believe that this ghost was that of a woman buried in the old cemetery where she and her friends had played some pranks.

For a while, the encounters seemed like a harmless haunting and the girl kept it all to herself. The British usually get a real kick out of their ghosts and don't seem to mind them too much. But this ghost would soon take a more threatening turn.

While making tea one day, the girl felt an unseen force grab her teakettle. It was filled with boiling water and the invisible force tried to twist it in her hands. The girl believed that the spirit was trying to scald her. After that, the girl told her mother about these weird encounters. The mother was skeptical at first until she saw the old woman's ghost drift across the downstairs hall and disappear into a nearby room, according to a Web site.

The ghost would continue to haunt the girl and her family. One time, it pulled a vacuum cleaner from the mother's hands. Sometimes, it would push or pull against doors that family members were trying to open or close. The girl's father, who was the most skeptical of all, had to change his mind about the hauntings when loud rapping noises awakened the entire household. Even more unusual, water dripped constantly from the kitchen ceiling but a plumber could not find the leak.

As time went on, the ghostly activity got worse. The family experienced loud banging and objects moving about on their own. Then one day, the ghost began to communicate with the family.

The girl was sitting at home when she suddenly and inexplicably fell into a weird trance. She began to talk about a previous life as the daughter of a French doctor in the 19th century.

After that, the girl's behavior changed noticeably and she appeared to be gifted with unexplained psychic abilities. For instance, she could bend a fork just by brushing it with her fingers. Physicians and other investigators could find no explanation for what was happening to the girl and her family, according to a Web site.

After all that, the family couldn't take anymore. The girl and her family moved out of their home of 11 years.

But the haunting wasn't over yet. One day, the girl returned to her former home to satisfy her curiosity. She found the back door broken and open and walked inside. She picked up the telephone to see if it was still working.

At that moment, something invisible grabbed her by the throat. Icy, unseen fingers clenched hard on her neck and were choking the life out of her. The terrified girl managed to pull herself away from the scene and ran out the house's front door. She and her family never returned to their former home.

There is no doubt in my mind that disrepecting a cemetary or any grave site will lead you to strife.

I have a story that was told to me by my step father about respecting the dead. I will post it when I fell like typing :D
