Q:
Do I need to call in a ghost investigator? And if so, whom should I contact?

A:

If you need help sorting things out you can call an investigator. A lot of people will disagree on this, but I tend to recommend that you contact someone who belongs to a Parapsychological Association. It may not guarantee that you won't get bad information, but it certainly improves the odds (see links). Some parapsychologists, like Loyd Auerbach of the Office of Paranormal Investigations at www.mindreader.com (Tell Loyd I sent you), have a lot of experience at investigating ghosts. Even if they aren't local, they can serve as a good resource, answering questions by mail/email, or even letting you know who to can contact in your area who would do a reputable investigation.

A lot of people, psychics and otherwise, who advertise their services as "ghost-hunters" are either in it as a fad for fun or frauds trying to make a buck. Watch out for the old "You have a black vortex and it will cost X amount for us to get rid of it for you." Of course, if it’s a New Zealand ghost you can always ask Greyghost. There’s always someone closer than you think.

If you want to find a real parapsychologist, you can try checking the member index at the Parapsychological Association website (its the leading international organization for parapsychology, with members all over the world). You can also check www.mindreader.com and www.pamelaheath.com. If you want to find a psychic, you can consider trying www.ukpsychics.co.uk
