Hi! This is a little past-due, being a Halloween story, but here goes...
After learning that the party I was going to had been cancelled, I sat down alone to watch some television. Chips and Pepsi were in hand, portable phone by my side. In the spirit of the evening, I picked up the phone, opened a line, and punched in 666. I was moderately superstitious before that night, so I lost my nerve and hung up the phone. A bit later, I put the phone back in its cradle and went to get a glass of water. I sat back down, and my father came walking through the door. As he rounded the corner the portable phone rang; Just the portable. In that area of the house, we have a portable phone and a wall-mounted phone within twenty feet or so. He picked up the wall phone and found no one on the other end. What really spooked me was that the portable phone was the only one that rang...and it was the only phone in the house that had the ringer disabled.
