Q:
OK, so I do have a ghost, Help me get rid of it.! What works?

A:

Cleansing can be thought of as falling into one of two categories, whether you're dealing with a ghost or unwanted place memory. These are:

1. Physical. There's a number of ways this can be done:

* Believe it or not, a good old fashioned spring cleaning, using ammonia, vinegar and other normal cleaning agents can do a lot.

* Repaint the walls. This seems to sometimes get rid of place memory, as well as brightening a room and making it more cheerful (which will help you to imprint better vibes on the place).

* Redecorate and rearrange the furniture. Again, this helps mostly with place memory unless you have a ghost that's been peeved by the old arrangement. Rarely, ghosts want to see a item restored to its old spot, but it usually takes a psychic to tell you if that's the problem.

* Add lights to dim closets or basements. It's amazing how many people report improvement with this simple change.

* Use a videotape bulk eraser or place strong magnets around the area you want to change. (But not near the TV, stereo, computer or speakers.) Currently, parapsychologists note that electromagnetic fields seem to correspond with ghosts and hauntings, just as VCRs are an electromagnetic recording. The same things that will erase your VCRs or the magnetic strips on your credit cards (be careful about this!) seem to be able to "erase" place memory.

* Have a great party and record your vibes over whatever place memory is there. The environment seems to record strong emotions whether they are positive or negative. The trick, then, is to record some really happy, positive, fun vibrations. You won't mind living with that!

* Some books talk about placing eggs in the corners of rooms to "soak up" bad vibrations, or of adding living plants like Chrysanthemums or even of using incense--Dragon's Blood, for example, is said to help get rid of evil spirits. The problem with this is that if you're dealing with a ghost, they generally have the same worldview as they had when they were alive. Waving a silver cross and garlic at a Jewish ghost may only get you a raised eyebrow. The symbols that were important to them alive will remain important and vice versa. Unless you know who the ghost is, this may act more on a placebo level, making you feel better, than actually affecting the ghost. On the other hand, if those flowers or that incense brighten your mood and make you feel better, they may be worth doing just for that. h) Greyghosts favourite is sea salt for protection ( a dash above window sills and in doorways) using saltwater soaks or bundling items in sage for "cleansing" vibrations from objects. A native American tradition is to smudge places and things with sage for purification.

2. Psychic. Think of this as the imagination having real power. With this you can:

* Talk to the ghost (if you have one) in your mind or out loud (whatever you feel comfortable with). You may want to explain that it is dead, it needs to move on to the white light. If the ghost is fearful, you may want to give reassurance as well as imagine guides, angels, or friends and family on the other side coming back to take them away. If necessary, tell the ghost in no uncertain terms to leave. Visualize them going to the white light, disappearing, and not coming back again.

* If the problem is more of place memory, you can imagine something like Jif or Ajax or a white tornado, racing through the area and cleaning everything until it sparkles brightly, squeaky clean and free from old vibrations.

* Imagine a mirror shield, like a bubble. It keeps out anything that is bad. Then, visualize the bubble growing bigger, pushing out or away anything negative and only allowing good inside of it. Enlarge the bubble until it surrounds the whole house. I'll often set the suggestion that it can then maintain itself effortlessly, keeping ghosts and unwanted energy out (but allowing guides with the highest intent in). I think of this as a way of preventing ghosts from coming back.

I'll often combine both the physical and psychic approaches, especially if the problem seems to reoccur. For more information on moving spirits on to the light (including some free mp3 audio talks), you can check out Dr. Pamela Heath's site at www.pamelaheath.com.
