I recall my grandfather on his deathbed. We spent a great deal of time together even towards the end of his life. He told me of the Kapookapees. Tree spirits and brothers to the Aborigine people of Australia. My Grandfather claimed to have seen these entities on many occasions, even shortly before crashing three planes during WW2. He was the sole survivor on all three occasions and always stated that the kapookapees kept him safe because he fed and watered them at his orchard property throughout his life.

I know spirits are not neccessarily appropriate for Cryptozoology pages however I wonder if these little "spirits" arent really little people who appear differently to the viewer. The scots and Irish have a tradition of their intervention in day to day living, so do the english, welsh, germanic people and even the poles...so far away from Brittainy; they too have their little volk....

Perhaps we coexist with another much older species. One capable of deception en masse. One that can become invisible at will and who no longer associates with so many of us because perhaps we no longer abide by the rules set out a while ago....

Whatcha think?

I believe in Pixies and the like, can't for the life of me explain them, but I believe, there is much we don't understand in this world.

Yeah I had two grandparents who were certain the fey were always watching us. My dad even claims as a wee kid I used to talk to pixies in the garden. I always thought I was just rambling but apparently I told mum and dad some stuff that I couldnt have known (as a boy).

My great grand-dad swore blind that he had an encounter with a leprechaun.

Hey GG, did he elaborate at all? What happened? My granddad was the same, he was sure as a man could be that they exist and he even cried when he spoke of them. So wow!

I have voted for absolutely yes. During my life and past lives I have never met one but I believe in otherkin beings, as I am absolutely sure there are angels, demons, beings like me....so why not "the little" folk.

Here in Germany we have the Wichtel or so-called Heinzelmännchen. They are said to look like dwarves ..... like those here in the "molehill"-ad. They visit houses of human people that are known being good in their character. There the Heinzelmännchen clean up everything and so fast that they only need one night to award good people.
Sometimes they haunt bad people's houses and throw everything upside down.

I wonder whether these little people are like they are depicted in stories, or whether they really are completely different, hidden from view and only willing to meet the occasional human on the outskirts of town...so to speak. The amount of stories from relatives and friends of friends...etc...suggest some truth to whatever the myth may be. I know I would dearly love to meet a fey creature. When I was a bit younger I arranged a section of our garden, where two walls met at ninety degrees to become a wrath so the fey could live nearby but whenever I went to check the end of the garden...there was nothing to be seen. ha not terribly suprised but a little disappointed. A wee part of me knows they are out there. I believe my grandfather.

For all we know we have encountered them and they have the ability (or maybe technology) to make us forget. . Who knows, not me, thats for sure!

Hmmmm - aliens in a different guise? One more like us that we are able to identify more easily with?

Or just that, like mbp said, with a power to make us forget encounters.

Im a firm believer that legend begins in fact, as to whether faeries, goblins, little people etc are/were ever real - or are the inventions of other past realities we may never know.

Someone suggested the lemurian incident...the old story that technologies and peoples of the past destroyed and now firmly forgotten may lay at the root of the Fey mythology! I wonder if these little people are the survivors of other grander times before we forgot ourselves and our capacity for greatness. Who knows what is true and what is not? They tell us that Egyptians had batteries made of clay, that Sumerians had lighting (in UR traces of glass and copper fibres suggest bulbs of a fashion)...if any of this is true, then who knows what else we have forgotten...
