Has anyone ever been out at night to the old Karori Cemetery?

History:

"Brief History
Karori Cemetery is New Zealand's second largest burial ground, covering nearly 40 hectares. It was the final resting place of about 80,000 people. Today, it is a wealth of Wellington history and a peaceful place to visit.

The cemetery was established in 1891 to replace the overcrowded Bolton Street Cemetery. The Cemetery filled quickly and by the 1950s had nearly reached maximum capacity. Makara Cemetery became Wellington's principal cemetery in 1965. The only plots available now at Karori Cemetery are pre-purchased ash or family plots, and children's plots.

Karori Cemetery's crematorium was New Zealand's first crematorium and is the oldest in Australasia, opening in 1909. It carries out about 450 cremations a year."

This place always seems to pop up in haunted wellington locations.

If one did go out there at night would you have to get permission from someone etc?

Yes I do believe that you do need permission, you should contact the caretakers and the police and security to let them know. Of course you could not contact anyone and just go for it but it really is much more respectful to ask and that what then no major drama is caused if you are found by security or police etc. Sounds like an beautiful sacred place. Are you going to investigate there? 8)

Lol yeah i just watched the NZPI videos on youtube they did a thing there and he said the same thing. Also see they did a Wrights Fortress video, i did a day investigation with my mate there a while ago and posted some pics on this site, but fun to go back at night. I see tho nzpi only did the unfilled turrent base, there is alot of interesting buildings all over the hill and 2 more turrent bases, they are filled in, but worth a look. Also be nice to go into the tunnel system when they open them up on public holidays, if they still do that.

Are you sure you need permission? I thought it was a public place. My daughter visits there every so often. She hasn't come accross any paranormal activity tho'. Has anyone witnessed any thing there?

im a member of nzpi and yea you have to get permission to go there at night. it has security that comes in and out during the night so better to ask rather then getting in trouble. i might be running a training exercise for my new team SPNZ in a couple of weeks, if u would like to come along. i have had alot of contact with the owner and hoping to get access to some of the building this time round. if anyones interested in coming to a investigation pm me or just reply in this thread to keep it going.

oh btw, i have seen some funky stuff at karori, shadow figures, full apparitions, a weird red light thing that i cant really explain, also had footsteps following us after evp sessions. in saying that, the last 3 times ive been we haven't really got any action at all.
