Well this is weird, dunno if it was a dream or not. But opinions are good, as you may have read, i'v only had one experience in the past (other then feeling presences sometimes) and that was not an unpleasant one, but I believe I just had my second.

I dozed of cuddling the cat, I had a dream where I was the girl from race to witch mountain and a younger kid wanted to drive my car or something. But then I woke up and felt something pushing down on the bed near my legs and everything went black and grey and I could feel my head being pushed into the pillow, and I could hear a noise, it kinda sounded like coughing or something. What leads me to believe it may have all been a dream is the fact there was a yellow smiley face in the black and grey. After a few seconds I managed to jerk it off and everything was normal again I was awake, except one thing, something that happens every now and then, it seemed like the mattress was, almost breathing, but thats impossible, but it's the best way to explain it. I could feel certain parts of it under me lifting and falling slightly. I told it to go away and not to come back, my Labrador started whimpering a couple of minutes later until I patted his head, and shortly after that the cat seemed to be dazed also, I can't help but wonder, if this did happen to me, could it have targeted my animals too? - Both of these happened after I asked "it" to leave. Assuming this was not a dream, I like to think I kept my head on tight. It's actually scarier in retrospect then it was at the time.

It should also be mentioned, I got into an argument with my mum yesterday.

Dream or not, I shall be purchasing buckets and magnets. I know people say when they have an encounter the room seems much colder. But the temperature seemed to stay the same, this was in my mums bed (mine is to small, I catch a few hours when she goes to work)

I sat in the bed for a good twenty minutes thinking it over, I figure I have been around death a fair bit over the past few weeks. I thought it might have been my dad just saying don't argue with mum or something, but I sincerely doubt he'd touch the animals. The coughing made me think maybe it was my dads dad (he died of throat cancer years ago) and as I recall, he wasn't the happiest man in life, or maybe it was just random. I figure I'v got some negative energy about me lately, and maybe it attracted something. .

I don't know really, just throwing some possibilities out there. Something else just happened also, minor and maybe unrelated. I just put my head phones on, the song (Saapas - Marko Kon) and it went all weird, kinda like static for a few seconds, I took them off and they went back to normal. I'v never had a problem with them before, so dunno, they are kinda old though. I still feel like something is here, my hairs are standing up (I actually just looked around the room and told it to f off - but it still feels like i'm not alone) the more I write this the less likely it seems to be a dream. But not ruling that out just yet. I mocked it, and nothing happened.

ANYWAY. . Thoughts on this? Scepticism is welcome also. But i'd also appreciate advice on what to do if this kinda thing happens again. I was originally going to just message a member of this forum, whose post seemed kind of similar, but I decided to post it instead.

Well it is hard to know what is going on really from what you say and although I tend to be rather skeptical about hearing such occurrences I have also had many similar experiences so I know first hand that they can happen and what it is like to be on the receiving end . You mention negativity you are currently experiencing in your life? Is there any way that you could distance yourself or remove yourself from this? You also say you have been around death a lot lately? Can you explain this more? I remember you mentioning your dog passing away :(

Once many years ago I had my duvet pulled right off of me in my sleep in the middle of the night and the bed started shaking so violently I literally fell out! I would love an explanation for that!

I found something on yahoo answers, my heart sank when some one mentioned there face was pushed into the pillow.

Believe me, I was sceptical my self, and almost didn't post. I started writing it up 2 hours prior to posting. I'v already separated my self from it. I haven't felt a thing for a few hours now though, been praying through out the day. Honestly i'm more concerned about my mum now, it was in her room that this happened. But as I said, i'v felt nothing for hours, so hopefully it won't show it self again.

Yeah, we lost our dog, but not long after we've lost one of our cats. Many of my fish have died today, though that was after the first post. I don't think it's related, but I'v got no idea why 5 fish just died (in different tanks too, all way below there life expectancy)

You've had a few experiences then? Do you know why stuff keeps happening to you at all? That's a creepy story, i'd take my face in the pillow any day over that :3

I'm afraid I don't, as far as cleansing goes, I'v just been praying. I tried to find a cleansing prayer posted here, but had no luck. So I just made up my own, forget how it goes though, but as far as I know, it was effective though :p. Not going to tell anyone outside of this forum unless it happens again I think, because maybe it was a dream. Wouldn't be the first time a dream seemed real I suppose

Thanks a lot Briah! May take you up on that if it happens again :)

Sleep Apnea and Sleep Paralysis (lucid dreaming) can cause a similar series of events and "phenomena", the first through lack of oxygen upon waking and the second because the very act of waking occurs too soon and the unconscious mind is still "plugged in" creating an unreal and quite frightening hyper reality for a few moments. People in this state complain of being pushed, seeing vivid colours or going blind briefly, being aware of prescences in the room, being frozen (sleep paralysis) or pushed down into the sheets (again, false information from the subconscious) or throttled, strangled and slapped. All of this can happen due to fretful or restless sleep, dozing and "day dreaming" have a close relationship. I would be very suprised if you havent just had a sleep apnea or sleep paralysis related experience. It sounds just like one. I often used to wake up being pushed down in bed, or having what felt like pulsations in the mattress but when I changed my habits a bit, the experiences ended and I could sleep all night. I also stopped having "kips" in the afternoon on the couch because it happened so often there that I got too scared to....lol ah anyway Im also open to you having been assaulted by an entity but I would tend to go in that direction after exausting all sensible options. You have been really stressed recently it appears and all the symptoms fit...

Have you been talking to someone in your environment about how you are feeling?

Frank.

That makes sense I suppose. It's never happened to me before though, so as you can guess, creeped me out. I was dozing at the time after all. I guess the feeling something was there was me over thinking it.

No i've not talked to anyone. I usually walk off my problems lol

You're probably right, thanks Franklee

One question though, the mattress pulsation, is that the mind being silly? Because that does happen quite a bit when i'm reading in bed

I guess it depends on you. Have you tried to discover whether this happens when you leave the bed? Place something like a vase or something easily tilted on the bed and leave it for a while. Make sure you tread softly! lol and see if it falls over after a while. Check also what time of night or day it happens and whether its regular or random. Are you tired when it happens? Are you always reading? Do you wear glasses or not? Sometimes visual problems can manifest as physical sensations. There are so many variables we would have to eliminate some before we could begin to decipher the actual phenomena. I hope I have helped a little rather than hindering!

Frank

Happens in all times of the day. Some times when I'm reading, some times when i'm playing Pokemon (I will never grow up!)

I have no glasses, some times I'm tired, some times I'm not, it seems to be random times of the day. My eyes are pretty good

I'll try the vase thing tomorrow though

Edit: There is usually a month or three in between this. It's not a weekly occurrence.

I've got to agree with Franklee. Your experience sounds very like sleep paralysis. Some people suffer from frequent bouts of it and others never experience it. I have had it happen once many years ago and hope it never happens again. Apparently not sleeping on your back can help to stop it happening.

The "mattress breathing" is an odd happening. I suggest keeping a transparent water bottle on the bed. Trace a line around where the water mark is and check it regularly to see if the water level has moved.

You might like to try setting up a camcorder or camera and recording yourself at night while you sleep. Sounds a little time consuming and tedious but this could be very enlightening as to whats going on in your sleep. Drink lots of water throughout the day, avoid caffeine and alcohol and try going to sleep around the same time everything. Make sure your bedroom is comfortable and relaxing and your bed is nice and cosy. Try not to eat at night before sleep. Try perhaps changing bedroom furniture around etc and the position of the bed, that can help too! A friend of mine did this recently and she has been sleeping soundly ever since.

Hope you're managing to get some sleep!

Well the vase didn't tip over. But I don't have any top heavy ones. The water bottle is a good idea, i'll try that. Thanks Kiwilady and Frank.

My camera's maximum record is about 4 minutes i'm afraid. I'll see if I can locate an inexpensive one.

I'v been sleeping pretty good actually, the first night after it was a little worried about going to sleep, but once I did it was fine.

Thanks for the comments guys and girls, you're probably right about the sleep paralysis thing.
