New Zealand Ghosts & Other Haunts

Ok, so my partner and I have this house. Had to a year or a month over.
I used to be quite bad with having promitions or dreams and then things would happen like weeks later...real bad dejavu(?)
We found the house and when i walked in a had a real good feeling, like it was a calm house and warm etc. I felt safe.
Now, not long after we moved in my partner says she started seeing shadows down the other end of the hall, closest to the kitchen, but furthest from the bedroom.
The weird thing is, the cat and dog react to this spot.
The shadown moves around sometimes...I infact thought i saw it one day but coudltn be sure...was kinda one of those things you see out of the corner of your eye you react to.
It was at night in poor light but in an area no car lights could have cast anything and the light from the corner room light didnt flicker or anything. I have had this a few times now in different rooms.
You dont get a bad feeling but when im at the computer gaming some nights, your back is directly inline with the end of the hall and you sometimes get that feeling someones watching you. I have had the experience of Karina calling my name but i turn around or take off my headphones and noones up, like shes gone to bed and i go see her to check on her but she hasnt called me.
The cat and dog react to it at exactly the same time and im actually sure it plays with the cat. At nights, just before we get ready for bed, shell sometimes do a wee nut and start playing, interestingly enough shell run around the corner of the hall and stare back at the spot, do her bum wiggle, then take off to that spot in the hall, whack the ground and then take off again. Very weird, always the same spot.
I dont get a bad feeling, neither does my partner but we have had times where weve looked at each other and gone, feel that? And its the same feeling, like someones watching us.
The area of the house is situated on an old stable. The house next door is the original house from that period im told by my grandfather. Unfortuneately he cant tell me if something happened on that site or if accidents occured. I know somethings there, i know its not bad because of the feelings of calm etc when you come in but i want to know who it is and weather its attached to the house, my partner or me.
Some other weird things have been lights coming on during the night, curtains closed when we return home and the heat pump turning itself up at odd times. Ive even had this checked out and it works perfectly.
Ive been under the house and get no bad vibes when working there.
I do still have dreams, i have more in this house than any other. Last night in fact i had a dream i was being chased by someone, i dont remember details but i remember waking up and looking at the spot in the hall and then pulling the sheets over my head cos something startled me. Thinking now, im not sure if it was me thinking someone was there or my subconscience just making me look.
I do have conversations with it (when noones home of course ) but no reactions.
Any advice?

I dont have any advice but what you are sharing with us is fairly common amongst members of this site. Our cat also plays with a particular area in our house and my wife and I are both certain that a "ghost cat" hangs about and plays with Raja (the cat). I think as you state that there are no negative vibes, that you might consider also getting someone to check your EM levels. The amount of Electromagnetic energy in a small or enclosed space can cause slight sensations of being watched or jumpiness. I have this problem at home because my study is right infront of our fifty year old mains board in the hall. There is a field of EM that extends sometimes (when lots of appliances are switched on) right to where I am sitting. It has registered as high as 150.00 at times...when its supposed to sit somewhere between 0.1 to 0.5 in a healthy environment. I only ever feel nervy when its high....so there ya go....Have you considered the possibility that it may be an animal from the stables? or a stables vibe that your pets are picking up on?

Hi Swind0g, interesting story. I just moved into an old house with my boyfriend. It's been extended out the back to include an open plan kitchen/diner & a 3rd bedroom. After exploring the whole house we both felt that our bedroom should be the one in the extension, even tho it's not the biggest room - it just has a different vide. The whole house feels fine - calm, relaxed etc but occassionally I don't want to go into the old part, especially the hallway & associated bedrooms. Then I read Franklee's message above & viola! This could explain why sometimes I feel uneasy - we have a big old mains power meter in the hall! Only thing is, you see a shadow in your house - that can't easily be explained! Try communicating with knocks or use a voice recorder. If it's an animal, probably not gonna get much out of them tho

Its always hard to know exactly what is going on and ones imagination can always get carried away with oneself- I know mine does sometimes. Always trying to rule out every rational or plausible cause for what you are experiencing which it sounds like you are doing. Making a diary of strange events can be helpful. Its a great time for having a good spring clean and this will help clear the energy in your house and make you feel more at home. Even if the causes of the occurrences are completely ordinary and nothing paranormal is going on saying a prayer and blessing the place can help (especially as you have just moved there) or you can get someone else to do this for you if that sounds like something you're in to.
If you have never had problems previously then I think this would indicate that if the haunting,ghost, spirit or what have you is attached to the house or land. I think hauntings are quite rare but I also think spirits are everywhere. Thankfully you said you're not uncomfortable with whats going on so that is good!! Its an awful feeling otherwise.


There are also the personal circumstances of your own personal lives to take into consideration, is there anything going on that might make you and your wife more sensitive at present? Do you know much about the history of the previous owners? Perhaps your family is picking up on the energy and emotional imprint of the previous owners or tenants?

Yeah its interesting. We do have an internal power board and it is close to this location but the weird thing was, when my partner first mentioned the shadow at the end of the hall i had seen it too...but before she mentioned it.
Im positive its not my imagination but i ill will have to check out this EMF stuff you speak of. May prove to be the cause of the uneasyness at times.
Will it curb my escalating power bills !? Lol.
