This happened in our house in Titirangi ie same house as the "Children and Ghosts" thread. I'm not tacking it into that thread because it was so strange that I feel it needs a thread of its own.

Each morning I would get up early, wave hubby off to work (he left about 6.15am) and sit and have a quite coffee before getting my daughter (who was about 9 at that time) up. It was a beautifull day and at about 6.30am I was enjoying just sitting and having my coffee in the sun in my dining room. Our house was open plan and from the dining room I could see parts of the lounge and kitchen over a high counter which partitioned the kitchen and dining room from the lounge.

While sitting quietly I heard footsteps on the carpet in the lounge. Although I didn't really think about it at the time it must have been a childs type footstep because I assumed that my daughter had awoken and got herself up early. I sat and waited for her to come around the corner of the bench expecting to see her any moment. She didn't emerge and I was just wondering where she was when I heard a loud childs wail! The child sounded to be about two years old (I looked after children at the house so know children well). The wail was followed by the child crying and saying "No" several times! The loud wailing and crying continued but slowly got fainter and fainter! I was left with the impression that the crying child had been taken away. That is really what it sounded like.

After it had happened it really felt surreal! Something had just happened right in front of me but I hadn't seen a thing and could only hear the child! Once again the house was quiet and the sun was still shining brightly! My doughter was still in bed asleep and hadn't heard anything.

Although this happened a few years ago now I still wonder what happened that day and hope that that child is OK. I like to think that maybe it hadn't crossed over and was drawn to the children who were always at my house. Perhaps someone came for it and took it over. (Thats what i like to think anyway). The activity at that house didn't stop after that happened and we still had things happen.

wow, that's pretty crazy! And I thought you were a sceptic!!

I was at home by myself on saturday, pottering around the kitchen. Taba my dog was sitting in the kitchen/lounge doorway watching me. I think I was making lunch & I heard a whistle, quite clearly, behind me. I turned round thinking my boyfriend had come in but there was no-one there. I looked at the dog & he had heard it too. His ears were pricked up & he had turned his head too, trying to work out where the whistle came from. Of course, the skeptic in me put it down to the dishwasher or something, but I'm still not sure!!
