I have a wireless doorbell that goes off by itself on occasion. The receiver sits in the kitchen which is about 20 feet or so away. Could anything else be responsible for this and if so how? Is it possible that another neighbors bell is setting this off or something like that?It happened 2 times the other night around 3.30am and was rather annoying and spooky. It only happens at night. We checked outside noone was around the property or outside....it was dead quiet.

It is possible that someone has a remote control or cell phone on the same frequency range. Also possible for the RF radio in a taxi to set it off.

I changed the battery the first time it happened because the battery went flat after all the ringing.

Bah - its most likely a slightly faulty unit....see this sorta thing all the time at work. Like GG said, anything with the same or a close enough frequency could set it off, or even just loose wiring :)
