Quote: This is a very strange, but true ghost story. Not everyone believe's in ghosts but I do and I have had several experiences with the supernatural, this is only one of my encounters.
This happened when I was only eight years old. My bus driver's wife had a kitten and she wanted to get rid of it so she offered it to me first and of course I took the female kitten from her. Now this was the first cat that I can remember owning, she was a black and white cat and for some reason I gave her the name Dozier. She was a very sweet cat and she truly was mine because she was every where that I was. Now we had several other cats and we had a problem with them getting into our attic, seemed like we could not keep them out so we decided to put up boards in the places that they were getting in through but Dozier would always find a way in. Now in my bed room there was a large rectangular hole in the corner of the ceiling: now Dozier had found this hole and we started playing with each other through this hole and I would feed her if I had any food in my room, she would stay there for hours and play with me. We had this cat for maybe a year, we had her long enough for her to have a litter of kittens. About two weeks after her having her kittens my grandfather had found her dead in the road when we all had gone to the store. Instead of burying her he had just thrown her over the hill. When mom had finally decided to tell me that evening I was sad and depressed because that cat and I were so close and I couldn't believe that my grandfather didn't bury her. Well we were left to care for her kittens. Days later after Dozier's death I was sitting in my bed room doing home work when suddenly I saw a black and white paw coming through the hole in my ceiling and not really thinking I was glad to see Dozier because my home work was getting on my nerves and I went to play with her. Now her death had completely slipped my mind and I was really playing with her and petting her then I turned to see if I had some food for her when suddenly it hit me that she was dead and I fell flat on the floor trying to get away from her and I busted my head on the floor but the pain didn't faze me. I looked back up at the hole and she was still there waiting for me to bring her something like she always did. I went to my mother and asked her to go outside and call all of her cats on the porch then I had her to come in the bed room and she saw it to. This dead cat was still there. I was one terrified little girl then suddenly I had realized why she had came back to me, two reason for her return; one was to tell me good bye and the other one was that she was not at rest. The next day when I came home from school I went over the hill where my grandfather had thrown her and found what was left of her and I buried her in the hills and I never seen her again. So I put her soul to rest and she was satisfied and had no reason to come back. Seeing a ghost is one thing but seeing one and touching one is something that you never forget. The reason that so many ghosts try to reach the living is because they want us to help them to reach the other side. Copyright 2006 Tasha Slone. What an amazing story. I've got a couple of cat stories. The first was when I was a kid and we lived in a haunted house in Sandringham, Auckland. There was a ghost lady and ghost cat who lived there. The cat was seen by all the family at different times, but we children didn't know the half of it!! Apparently (so my skeptic father tells us) when my parents would be lying in bed at night their bedroom door would open and they would hear a cat run across the floor and jump onto their bed. Then they would actually feel this cat walking around on the bed before if would curl up and "sleep" at their feet. The next story happened quite recently. We had to have our beloved "Sledge" (cat) put to sleep when he developed a blockage in his bladder. We realised too late that he was ill and could not understand why we frequently smelt cat urine. The poor thing could not wee so didn't find any puddles but the smell where he had dribbled was incredible! Anyhow, after a visit to the vet to have his bladder drained our cat made a rapid recovery and was just as playful and affectionate as he had always been. The vet wanted to keep him for a couple of days to check that he had no kidney damage but it soon became evident that he was unable to urinate without a cathatar. As the vet could do nothing to help this we had to have him put down which was sooooo sad because he seemed so well at the time. Anyway about a month after this had happened I was lying in bed dozing with an arm out over the side of the bed. I could feel Sledge brushing back and forth against my hand and arm as he did in life when he was looking for attention. I absent-mindedly stroked him and petted him before remembering that he was dead and that jerked me into a fully awake state. As soon as I jumped he was gone! I'm sure animals do come back to where they felt loved. |

When I was 15 my family took in a stray kitten and the first night we had him he slept on my neck!! He obviously chose me as his companion and we developed a strong bond...he was my baby! He always slept with me and HAD to be touching me in some way to sleep (a paw on my leg usually). Anyways, he got sick when I was 18 and I recognized this straight-away and took him to the vet. He had the same blockage in his urinary tract that you spoke of and was hospitalized for a few days and then put on a prescription cat food (quite expensive but of course he was worth it!) I went away to finish Uni a year later and left him in the care of my mother. I visited often and always looked forward to spending time with my Mittens (well his full name was Mittens VonSocks). A year later he went missing. We put up posters all over town offering a big reward and kept checking with Animal Control and the SPCA to see if he had been found one way or another. He never showed up and we assumed he had died somewhere due to a flare-up of this urinary tract blockage condition (my mum did pay attention to him but I dont think she was as sensitive to his feelings as I was and probably wouldnt have noticed in time). Anyways, I miss my kitten and it took me a few years before I was ready to have another cat. I adopted Ollie as an adult from the local shelter late last year and while he isnt my Mittens, he has a similar disposition and funnily enough 3 weeks after getting him I took him to the vet as he was acting strangely...It turns out he too has that feline urinary tract syndrome and is on the same precription cat food Mittens was on (btw, Im American and just moved here 2 years ago). Anyways, to get to the ghost part of the story...I recently married my partner of 3 years and 4 days before the wedding I was sitting in the lounge at work alone reading a book. Out of the corner of my eye I saw Mittens sitting in the chair in front of me to the left. It was very clearly him and I had no doubt about this. I just felt like he was stopping in to say "Hi Mom! I'm happy for you!" It didn't scare me, it just made me really happy! |
